Homebrew Blackjack for Nintendo 3DS
The Nintendo 3DS has a pretty decent homebrew software scene. People have been creating all manner of cool things, from small applications to emulators. When I bought a 3DS, naturally I had to get involved.
Blackjack 3DS is a script for Lua Player Plus, a Lua interpreter that gives you simple access to almost all of the 3DS’s interfaces and services. This was my first foray into Lua, which I ended up liking quite a bit. The game is a basic blackjack game with an infinite deck, and all of the typical rules including splits, doubling down, surrender, and insurance. It also supports the 3D effect, and it’s pretty damn cool to see the cards slightly hover above the screen.
